Node City Cluj Napoca
Node State/Province CLUJ
Node Country Romania
For which networks have you ever operated a node?
  • Ethereum (ETH, ETC, etc)
What kind of improvements would you like to see in xx network nodes vs. previous nodes you have supported? Monitoring performance, bugs, invalid states. We should be able to track lots of data, especially on performance side. Ideally in a "centralized" way. And by centralized I mean one or more places/products where we can see full analytics. I saw you have a dashboard - that's a good starting point. My point of reference for example would be something like Atlas MongoDB analytics - you can see everything there, both general (like CPU) and specific mongo data. For example if during setup you messed up something, it should show you a red flag, be it missing GPU driver or anything else. So setup and running a node should be "idiot proof". Maybe for beta node you go with full stats and on Main net you turn off some options etc.
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an xx network node? None.
What is the maximum upload bandwidth in megabits per second your node can provide? 500 mbps
What is the maximum download bandwidth in megabits per second your node can provide? 500 mpbps
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? 99
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. 8 cents per kw
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator?` 50
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
If your server is located in your personal home, please specify the name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Telekom
If your server is located in a Datacenter, please specify the name of the company hosting it.
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? I use Ubuntu on my personal computers. Have used cloud solutions = small VPS servers for various projects during my career. However I am comfortable with Linux and running my own server
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published xx network BetaNet Node specifications (found here)? 16 core (32 virtual) AMD Ryzen, 1 TB M2 SSD, 64 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 3070 GPU, 500 mbs fiber optic dedicated internet connection
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below: Plan to use a minimac or similar as a gateway when moving to mainnet. However no other spare servers
Why do you want to be a node? I can take advantage of my technical skills to help a project that I like. I also see it as a lower risk to invest in this project while providing more "hands on" value. So I like projects where community can get involved at an early stage. Similar to the initial Bitcoin philosophy. Focusing on building stuff rather than marketing
How did you originally hear about the xx network? Word of Mouth
Which current xx network communities are you a member of?
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? Just found out about this project a few days ago So my main sorces of information are feedback from other persons and also your website. I like the whole privacy thing and decentralized data, I believe we need to split the world data into different layers and groups that are relevant and accessible only to the persons or entities that use it/own it. For example - weather data is a public level, the fact that you need to buy an umbrella is not and should not be. I dont want private/personal communication becoming big data to be harvested by corporations or government. I think that this project can deliver the infrastructure for that
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? This project is a good fit in regard to both scope = what it wants to do and time - beta a stage. So right now XX Netwrok is my main and only focus. Who knows might find another project too in the future as secondary interest. However based on my research this project is the best fit.
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? Did not have a change to attend yet. However I have a few friends that are more experienced in the space.
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience:
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. No
Would you be interested in helping to lead the development of the next xx network community? No
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network
      • To protect the privacy of political speech
      • To protect private personal communication around health and lifestyle issues from mass surveillance and abuse by centralized organizations
      • To promote quantum secure distributed systems
      • To earn xx coins
      • To help build David Chaum's vision of a decentralized world
      • To contribute to a promising project
      • To undo the centralization of the internet by big tech companies
      • To help build true digital cash to fuel a decentralized economy
      • To reverse the political centralization of legal, police, and military organizations which favor the wealthy and powerful
      • Other (please specify): I really agree with all the above points
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? I am a libertarian therefore I promote full decentralization. Distributed network are good for reliability. However decentralized networks means that business logic/power/information is kept inside the relevant "bubbles" and there is no top down decision.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. Besides technical details as quantum resistant and metadata shredding I believe your approach can provide an actual infrastructure - high level vision so privacy is not a feature . it is the actual product
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? without privacy there is no freedom. without freedom there is no meaning to life, you chease to live and you barely exist. No freedom ends up really badly. One thing leads to another until and it ends really badly.
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? A centralized system has only one point of failure - much easier to control. A successful attack brings down the system. A decentralized system is more resilient. I would think that when you have tens of thousands of entities you cant annihilate all at the same time. just like a virus - when it needs to infect 10k computers you have time to protect yourself, deploy defenses, build "immunity"
