For which networks have you ever operated a node?
What kind of improvements would you like to see in xx network nodes vs. previous nodes you have supported? I am totally new to running nodes, to be honest. I have a nephew that is already running a node and is selected. I'm still willing to learn the basics.
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an xx network node? none so far.
What is the maximum upload bandwidth in megabits per second your node can provide? 500Mbit
What is the maximum download bandwidth in megabits per second your node can provide? 500Mbit
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? 99
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. 21 euro cent
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator?` 50
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
If your server is located in your personal home, please specify the name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP). KPN
If your server is located in a Datacenter, please specify the name of the company hosting it.
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? No
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published xx network BetaNet Node specifications? No
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below: If selected I will buy the required hardware parts at least minimal for running a node. At least I'd like a quiet pc with good ventilation and an efficient PSU.
Why do you want to be a node? In today's society, there is too much control by government agencies and large corporations. Hearing about this project, I became interested in supporting this project because it matches my vision.
How did you originally hear about the xx network? Word of Mouth
Which current xx network communities are you a member of?
    • Discord
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? I like how monopolization is less likely to occur in this community because each person can only operate one node.
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? no, sorry
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? none yet, but peaked now.
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience:
    • Instructional video content: no
    • Livestream/broadcast video content: no
    • Group messaging curation / management (telegram, whatsapp, etc): no
    • Forum management for Bitcointalk: no
    • Forum management for Reddit: no
    • Forum management for Discord: no
    • Other forum management: I used to work at a SEO company to optimize content
    • Meetup group management: no
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? How much content on a monthly basis? I'm flexible since I don't work full time and willing to learn. I have about 5 to 10 hours at least per week to spare. So i could help with content optimalisation.
Would you be interested in helping to lead the development of the next xx network community? No
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network
    • To protect the privacy of political speech
    • To protect private personal communication around health and lifestyle issues from mass surveillance and abuse by centralized organizations
    • To earn xx coins
    • To contribute to a promising project
    • To undo the centralization of the internet by big tech companies
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? In a decentralized network, you create multiple nodes that are self-sufficient. In a distributed network everyone is equal to each other, but not dependent on each other. I find both interesting, but both do not provide a solution against quantum computing.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. Other crypto's I heard about do not focus on decentralization enough. It's a very good move to have only one node per person. That way big companies or rich people can't monologize the network. This benefits decentralization and everybody gets a fair chance.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? To make the decision easier to use a messenger that is private it has to be free. Else it's an extra obstacle for people because traces of payments can always be traced.
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? Centralized systems have only 1 big point of attack for the hacker. If that point is secure then it's still a matter of time for a quantum computer to hack because the structure used to communicate is predictable. Decentralization fixes this problem, but only adds more time to break if the communication to the nodes is predictable. Nodes are randomly selected per message and not based on the location closest to the person sending a message because. This blockchain is not based on message speed but on security.

Just so you’re aware of the specs. They can be found on page 3-4 of Beta Node Handbook

You have my support. I’m sure your nephew will get you up and running :slightly_smiling_face:

You have my vote! (Mainly as your nephew is setting things up!)
Do you mind tagging your nephew here so we know?

    Has my vote.

    Good application.You have my vote.

Thanks, I’ll get the same parts as my nephew’s node. Now that the Ryzen 5000 series is out I will probably get a Ryzen 5600x, gigybyte windforce 2070, or super version. A samsung 970 evo 1tb plus as storage.

    @royal85 is my nephew :slight_smile:

Has my vote for the final selection.

I also checked the stats of the node of his nephew, and it’s 100% up as well as above average precomp and realtime values for last week. So I believe @royal85 can provide good support if needed.

Thanks!. I’m focusing on becoming a full-time node runner.

    You got my vote.
