I get no notification if there’s a message send to me although I have allowed the app to do so. An other thing is that I have to re-login (passsword) after not using the messenger for more then 1/2 hour. Is this expected? I’m working with a Android (Samsung) phone.

I have had the same issue, I have to go in and check to see reply’s or comments, no notifications.
Push Notifications are not enabled. They are expected in ver. 1.4.
