Regarding this grant thread, I posted there that while NFTs are available, we haven’t seen that as an important part of the platform and only “bare bones” integration is available.
Many people think “it should work” simply because it’s described in the proposal, but never tried to use them on xx Chain or understand what works and what doesn’t.
NFTs do work on xx Chain, but they have limitations - for example there’s no UI where you can see them. There are use cases for them as-is, but then again - if you have a dApp that should use NFTs, there’s no meaningful advantage in using xx Chain’s NFTs over any other chain because the same wallet passphrase can command wallets use NFTs on any Polkadot SDK chain at the same time.
If you use cMixx and want to specifically target the xx Network or cMixx users, it makes sense to use xx Chain’s NFTs despite their relative shortcomings, but the soccer game is not targeting these communities - it simply needs to reach as many users as possible and for that it should use the chain with best NFT features. cMixx is unrelated and can be used without NFTs.
It appears (see the second link) no one has even tried to use NFTs on xx Chain, and after three years of mainnet, suddenly many think it’d be valuable. There are valuable use cases, but clearly we’re not focused on that because we’re focused on cMixx - as we should be.
