The previews are pulled by the client IP, correct? Just to make sure people know their IP may be disclosed/tracked (in which case they could use VPN or Tor for extra privacy).
Ultimately client-side Auto-preview ON / OFF (default) setting would be nice to have.
Good question - It depends on the technology. If link previews are generated by the sender, it’s the sender IP and if by the receiver it is the receiver IP. In some cases I think they get it through google so our server sees a google ip.
Unfortunately this is not a regression, the apps always try to produce these link previews unless you turn it off on the app. The only difference is that haven is returning useful data now.
