The difference is you (and some from the Council, I suppose) know what they did, but we don’t. I’m not against, but I can’t be in favor either without knowing what that they contributed.
As one-off rewards for useful activities such rewards aren’t a problem, but without sharing the details with us “outsiders” this shouldn’t have been proposed.
The bigger problem is a proposal for fixed, uniform monthly payments. Again, it’s not an amount problem, but I’m against the idea because how can anyone tell what most council members are doing?
I know some do more than others, but it also varies from month to month. In months when someone feels like they went above and beyond, let them post here what that was, and propose a tip for their “above and beyond” efforts.
The default monthly comp - being a member, casting a vote or two, retweeting 2-3 posts on X - should be $0.
