What kind of improvements would you like to see in xx network nodes vs. previous nodes you have supported? Ease of use, low barriers to entry, focus on decentralization
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an xx network node? Financial incentive being too low, minimum specs/bandwidth unreasonably high
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? 99
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. $0.10 / kWh
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator?` 25

Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published xx network BetaNet Node specifications (found here)? No
Specs
Why do you want to be a node? I believe in decentralization and finding ways I can contribute to the best crypto networks. Running a node and being a part of the community helps me connect and network with like minded individuals. I want to meet the smartest developers and investors and further my career prospects.
How did you originally hear about the xx network? A Friend, JP Banks
Which current xx network communities are you a member of? Discord
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? Next generation research in crypto from the brightest minds. I believe privacy is very important for decentralized applications and xx networks reduction of public metadata will be ground breaking.
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? Ethereum, 0xBitcoin
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)?
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience:
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. 1-2 updates/articles
Would you be interested in helping to lead the development of the next xx network community? Yes
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network? To protect the privacy of political speech, To protect private personal communication around health and lifestyle issues from mass surveillance and abuse by centralized organizations, To promote quantum secure distributed systems, To earn xx coins, To help build David Chaum's vision of a decentralized world, To contribute to a promising project, To undo the centralization of the internet by big tech companies, To help build true digital cash to fuel a decentralized economy, To reverse the political centralization of legal, police, and military organizations which favor the wealthy and powerful
Other Reasons
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Distributed networks can still be collections of peers contributing to a system that ultimately has centralized control. I believe in decentralization is a fundamental concept to help drive innovation where centralized systems have failed. Especially money, communication, and organization.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. I believe the main value proposition of the xx network will be in the privacy it can allow organizations and individuals. Ethereum is a good starting point for decentralized networks but lacks on privacy as a main feature.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? Private must be opt out and only for certain applications. In the increasing data age your information is being used by everyone for something and shouldnt be carelessly given away. Governments, institutions, and individuals can make decisions and judgements based on your data. Privacy not as a default leads to greater control and manipulation.
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? Quantum computers pose risks to certain classes of problems. While they are not magic, certain systems will be vulnerable to attacks in the future. Knowing this is a unknown being researched allows for the xx network to position itself safely moving forward.

Hello, this is my application. I also am running a ETH 2.0 testnet node and setting up a separate system for that. I would build a computer based on recommended specs for an xx node. I am looking into if I’m eligible for upgrades for my internet. Thanks for looking!

Strong applicant, you have my support. Minimum requirements for betanet are 100 Mbps up / 100 Mbps down for the node (or 150 up / 200 down if you are planning to run both the node and the gateway using the same connection), so your connection seems enough for betanet. See Revised BetaNet Node Hardware Requirements.

Very good application.
You have got my support too :+1:
