Application Date 05/25/2020 01:24:41 PM
Applicant City Delhi
Applicant State/Province Delhi
Applicant Country India
What languages do you speak? English, Hindi
What is your occupation? Software Development
How many years experience in your field? 8-15
What is the highest degree or level of school you have completed? Master’s degree (for example: MA, MS, MEng, MEd, MSW, MBA)
Did you purchase xx coins in the xx coin sale? No
Are you an individual or a group? Individual
Node City National Capital Region
Node Province National Capital Region
Node Country India
For which networks Have you ever operated a node? EOS
What kind of improvements would you like to see in xx network nodes vs. previous nodes you have supported? A good dashboard, block explorer and better communication by the team. More often than not, I have seen networks who have launched their mainnet without eve having n a good block explorer or a dashboard for node operators.
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an xx network node? If the hardware requirements increase from the suggested ones rapidly then it would be very difficult for me to upgrade the hardware every month.
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? 99
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. 0.1$/hour
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator?` 12
Connection speed 100Mbps
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? I have provided services to enterprises where I provided them the dashboards for monitoring their server logs. For this, I have hosted my servers in datacenter.
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published xx network BetaNet Node specifications (found here)? No
Specs
Why do you want to be a node? I love running nodes on networks at early stages. This way, I get to learn a lot about the network and at the same time able to support the network. I love this analogy: If a network is not able to communicate well with the validators, there is no way that that network will ever be able to communicate well with their end users.
How did you originally hear about the xx network? Twitter
Which current xx network communities are you a member of?
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? There are so many blockchain networks today and there is no one solution for all. The ones which has privacy, they lack decentralisation. The ones which are decetralised and has privacy, cannot handle dApps. The ones which can handle dApps as well as privacy, aren't decentralised.
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones?
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? Yes, a lot of blockchain conferences in India, Singapore.
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience: Instructional video content: Comfortable, Group messaging curation: Comfortable
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. 8
Would you be interested in helping to lead the development of the next xx network community? Yes
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network? To protect the privacy of political speech, To protect private personal communication around health and lifestyle issues from mass surveillance and abuse by centralized organizations, To promote quantum secure distributed systems, To earn xx coins, To help build David Chaum's vision of a decentralized world, To contribute to a promising project, To undo the centralization of the internet by big tech companies, To help build true digital cash to fuel a decentralized economy, To reverse the political centralization of legal, police, and military organizations which favor the wealthy and powerful
Other Reasons
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? In both the networks, the data is spread across more than one computer and interact with each other to prevent a single point of failure. The difference is that in a decentralised network, these large number of nodes are being run by different people/groups whereas in a distributed network, all the nodes are mostly run by the same entity. I would say that I am somewhere below the middle in decentralisation spectrum.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. There is no network today which has all these properties: decentralised, linearly scaleable, can support resource intensive dApps, strong currency. I believe xx network has all the above capabilities makes it very distinguished for all the networks that exist today.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? Privacy by deafult is very much required as you can do things like scaling on layer 2 but privacy has to exist by default so that there is no choice to not use it.
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? I don't think there is much threat towards decentralised system from quantum computers. As of today, the strongest super computer is way too far in breaking these networks. The estimation that have been made that they can break in in next 10 years are ignorant of the exponential cost that comes up with building those systems. Also, many networks today are quantum resistance.
