| What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? | Decentralized networks are subsets of distributed networks. Decentralized networks empower users to vote for governance of the network so that no one would be more powerful among other users. Users’ data on decentralized network are more secured and more private due to the network’s properties. No one can modify others’ data. While decentralized network’s and distributed network’s nodes are both located among all different places, distributed network can be centralized or decentralized. Therefore, decentralized network is much more applicable in blockchain industry. I agree that decentralized network is a more suitable option for the development of blockchain. |
| As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. | The value of the xx network platform is to enable the fair distribution of users’ power in order to reach the decentralized state of a blockchain network and also to improve network’s efficiency and extend the network’s scalability so that network can reach a global user-base. A decentralized governance platform is initiated on xx network and it will include four main chambers: Council, Tech Committee, Coin holders, and Users. With this structure, xx network will be able to nominate a better stake approach to prevent power centralization among mining farms and hardware supply. Elixxir is the core of the xx network, which strongly secures users’ data on the network. The above points are existing issues found on current blockchain solutions. Their consensus mechanisms are more likely to consolidate a few nodes’/ users’ power, which is not beneficial for the objective of decentralization. Also, the current consensus approach incurs high energy cost and current networks face threats under the quantum computing. |
| Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? | Currently, tech giants are able to collect most of our activity records and transaction records. They might integrate our historical data and analyze customers’ behaviors with government, which is not something we would like to see. We do want to protect our privacy and not to be monitored while we process online activities. Therefore, privacy by default is crucial for our future network. While we develop xx network, our privacy will be secured due to the decentralized nature. |
| In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? | A majority of the decentralized networks like Bitcoin etc. apply public-private key cryptography system. Quantum computers are the key to crack the public-private key system, which the security of the networks would be disrupted. Therefore, decentralized systems are facing the threat from quantum computers. Xx network currently has a better solution to prevent cracking from quantum computers. For centralized systems, they would not be affected because they are generally not using the public-private key cryptography system. They would have their own different solutions when facing quantum computers’ threat. |
