For which networks have you ever operated a node?
  • Bitcoin (BTC, BCH, etc)
  • Monero
  • Other (please specify): Dogecoin
What kind of improvements would you like to see in xx network nodes vs. previous nodes you have supported? Better documentation of CLI options and systemd support.
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an xx network node? i have stable power and multiple options for gigabit internet service. Potentially a hurricane could cause loss of these services for a short period of time. My financial situation is stable and I dont forsee any changes at the moment that will make operating a node a burden.
What is the maximum upload bandwidth in megabits per second your node can provide? 950 Mbps
What is the maximum download bandwidth in megabits per second your node can provide? 950 Mbps
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? 97
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. approximately 21 cents per kwh
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator?` 6
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
If your server is located in your personal home, please specify the name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Verizon fios
If your server is located in a Datacenter, please specify the name of the company hosting it. Nodes will not be allowed to run on Hetzner. If you do, you will not receive compensation.
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? I work at a facility used for Air Traffic Control in the NYC area. I have been working in the automation datacenter for 12 years, and have been system administrator for 6 years.
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published xx network BetaNet Node specifications (found here)? No
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below: i have hardware capable of running a gateway but not a node.
Why do you want to be a node? I believe deeply in the decentralization of internet applications to prevent censorship. I want to be a part of that
How did you originally hear about the xx network? Twitter
Which current xx network communities are you a member of?
  • Twitter
  • Telegram
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? quantum hardened security. Others laugh at me when I mention this security hole in bitcoin network and others. Quantum computing is around the corner and its not safe to ignore it.
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? I run a bitcoin node and monero node at the moment. I have not been active in development however with any group.
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? no
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience:
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. No
Would you be interested in helping to lead the development of the next xx network community? No
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network
    • To promote quantum secure distributed systems
    • To help build David Chaum's vision of a decentralized world
    • To undo the centralization of the internet by big tech companies
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? I think there is a pretty big difference distributed systems still rely on a centralized controlling party to distribute computing tasks. I prefer a fully decentralized system, however I feel some form of hybrid system is beneficial as well so that vast computing resources are not wasted processing the same data in parallel.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. I dont know much about the technical aspects of the blockchain on xx network. I do know that it advertises to be quantum secure, the value of this will be infinite when the first quantum computers come online.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? i feel everyday I am living in an echo chamber. I feel this is dangerous, I want to hear opinions of others whether or not I agree with them. However with the centralization of media and social internet companies the opposite is happening.
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? i think quantum computers are a bigger threat to decentralized systems then centralized. physical access is a barrier centralized systems utilize as a security feature. a decentralized network will have no way to ensure a quantum computer is not on the network. with current security protocols with broad adoption in the internet today the internet will be rendered insecure overnight when the first quantum computer goes online. What little privacy users currently have will be stripped away. The biggest problem is we won't know when the first quantum computers are online until after mass security breaches occur possibly with devastating consequences.
