Are you an individual or a group? Individual

For which networks Have you ever operated a node?
What kind of improvements would you like to see in xx network nodes vs. previous nodes you have supported?
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an xx network node?
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? 98
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. First 36 kw/h are at 0.0591$cad, then it's 0,0912$cad
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator?` 100
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? No
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published xx network BetaNet Node specifications (found here)? No
Specs
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below: No, I have dedicated machines for every aspect of my onlines operations (one for stock exchanges and operations- one for crypto exchanges and operations- one for my kids, one for my wife...and then one for the XX node, which I will buy overspec'ed if I get the opportunity to contribute).
Why do you want to be a node? I've been invested in the blockchain space, both financially and intellectually for the past 8+ years. I want to not only profit from this space, but make it become more accessible, more secure, more mainstream.
How did you originally hear about the xx network? xx collective
Which current xx network communities are you a member of? Telegram, Discord
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? QUANTUM RESISTANCE, what a silly question!
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? A few work in progress, helping projects of other devs, bug bounties, mainly active on Discord and following mainstream on Telegram. Recently saved an ICO from an opened access the devs hadn't seen.
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? Not in person.
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience:
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. Considering node maintenance and upkeep, at least twice a week. 8-12 times per month
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network? To protect the privacy of political speech, To protect private personal communication around health and lifestyle issues from mass surveillance and abuse by centralized organizations, To promote quantum secure distributed systems, To earn xx coins, To help build David Chaum's vision of a decentralized world, To contribute to a promising project, To undo the centralization of the internet by big tech companies, To help build true digital cash to fuel a decentralized economy, To reverse the political centralization of legal, police, and military organizations which favor the wealthy and powerful, To make it more accessible, to promote self-financial security knowledge.
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Words have meaning. Decentralized: nodes refer to a central authority. Distributed: nodes communicate amongst themselves and come to an aggregated decision.'where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit?'' As a kid (9-10 y.o), I remember asking my parents why do banks control the whole cashflow as if it was a Monopoly game? Why do insurance companies never loose if they assume risks? Absolutely, unequivocally, with all that it implies, fully distributed networks. And if somehow Mr. David Chaum and his team don't achieve it, I'm gonna do my best to fork his project with the necessary changes, to make it work. In the end, this is important for our democracies and our ultimate individual liberties.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. QUANTUM RESISTANCE! What a silly question!
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? Surely you mean as opposed to GAFAM controlling all data?
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? Ultimately? Quantum computers against decentralized systems vs centralized systems? Just a question of minutes. Imagine what kind of pull back would Crypto-DeFi-alternative investements- go through if No-ONE protects themselves from this obvious threat. Once someone achieves these kinds of possibilities, they won't send you a warning note. You'll just wake up to it.

Can you meet the HW specs? i voted yes because of personal home hosting

I will not only meet them but I will surpass them. As I mentionned in my application, I have different machines for my different needs. If I get accepted as a node operator, it will take me a few days to buy and setup this new, dedicated one.
Thanks for asking.

:+1:

ISP is Bell through optical fiber.
