Good answers!

Cool one!

I don’t think we can approve this application until it is confirmed that all hardware requirements are met, especially the CPU/GPU specs. It does not make sense to allow off-spec nodes to join the network when the forthcoming updates https://staging-forum.xx.network/t/4k-prime-update/2586 are expected to wipe them out.
Also we have to make sure that the node is not run from a (Hetzner) DC, as we have already identified a large concentration of nodes in DC’s which conflicts with the decentralized nature of the network.
Don’t get me wrong: I really hope and invite you to join the network, we just need to be sure the requirements are fulfilled.

My specs
AMD Ryzen9 3900 (12-Core), 128Gb DDR4 ECC, 2 x 1.92TB NVMe SSD (AX61 from Hetzner)

This spec does not meet the minimum requirement sorry

I need to setup GPU?

yes… you clearly did not read the minimum specification… GPU with RTX support is required for the matmul calculations…

Without the GPU to meet the minimum spec I will vote ‘No’ on this application.

anyway, I hope this guy solves the problem with the GPU :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, please check the minimum requirements, a Turing GPU is required.

Note that CPU-only nodes running in over-represented datacenters (such as Hetzner) are now being disabled and asked to make changes to continue operating, see here.

Could you please confirm here that you will run a node with the required GPU? I’d consider that a necessary requirement to be preselected.

Yes, I will try to solve this problem

My new specs:
AMD Ryzen 9 3900 / 128Gb DDR4 RAM / NVMe 1.92TB / GeForce RTX 2080

Is it still with Hetzner? Hetzner does not offer GPUs in their bare metals. So unless you build a server yourself and send it over to them for co-location, it will not be possible to meet the specs you suggested at their data centres.

i dont know that(((
then I will use this datacenter https://selectel.ru/

I checked the Selectel page and they indeed offer suitable GPUs in their server configurator. I configured a server that somewhat meets the required specs of BetaNet. Although only the Intel Xeon E5 and Scalable CPUs allow to build a server with a GeForce RTX 2080Ti, and I don’t know if such CPUs would be compatible to run the node (maybe others can help out).

The configuration costs USD 710 per month. Would you be able to front-load these costs during BetaNet?

Sorry to pick on you, but I believe such questions are important for the pre-selection.

Nice, Marc, as you’ve shown a VPS with the required GPU may indeed be very expensive. Applicants should really consider this fact. They may still choose to go ahead with an under-spec VPS (in a datacenter that should anyway not be over-represented), but they should be aware that even if their node might function under current betanet conditions, the computation demand will be ramping up soon and they may get into trouble down the road without the recommended GPU.

Yes, very expensive. I am currently looking for other options. But if I don’t find anything suitable, I can build the server at home.

Right, if you truly want to observe the recommended specs, then a home server is probably cheaper in the long run.

I’ll build own home server. Looking for a new ISP
