Specs
Why do you want to be a node? I believe blockchain technology can change the world for the better, and that xx has powerful advantages compared to other alternatives. Moreover, it would be exciting to be part of the net from the beginning. Lastly, the prospect of making a profit is also attractive.
How did you originally hear about the xx network? Word of Mouth
Which current xx network communities are you a member of?
Are you an active member of those communities?
What specifically, interests you about the xx network platform? Joining from the beginning of the network, its technical superiority (security, usability, speed, scalability), a close friend has told me about it and convinced me of its advantages.
Outside of xx network communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? No
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? No
Do you have past experience managing communities or creating content to be distributed across social media? Please enter details for all with which you are comfortable or have experience:
As part of growing the xx network community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an xx network BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. I could work 4 hours a month, on whatever is needed
Would you be interested in helping to lead the development of the next xx network community? No
Why do you want to run a node in the xx network? To protect private personal communication around health and lifestyle issues from mass surveillance and abuse by centralized organizations, To earn xx coins, To contribute to a promising project, To help build true digital cash to fuel a decentralized economy
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Distributed networks allows each node to have independent decision making and thus avoids centralization completely. Decentralized networks have multiple decision making hubs which reduces the level of centralization of power and decision making compared to a centralized network, yet retains some level of power, thus remaining between centralized and distributed networks. I believe that the more decentralized a network the better as long as there is enabling technology that makes this viable. The beauty of blockchain is that it precisely enables further decentralization of the way our society functions.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the xx network platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. xx network has four main advantages. 1. Improves the level of security of the information contained in transactions. 2. Speeds up the transactions. 3. Built to be usable, satisfying real-life needs such as communication and payments. 4. Scalable to be able to cover ever growing uses.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the xx network Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? The way information is shared today gives governments and some firms unlimited access to our data, from our location, ideas, tastes, relations. This is dangerous if it falls in the wrong hands, as has been happening (e.g., Patriot Act, Cambridge Analytics). Individuals should be owners of our own data as much as we are owners of our own clothes and food to avoid tyranny and abuse.
In your opinion, what threat, if any, do quantum computers pose toward decentralized systems? What about centralized systems? Honestly, I do not know much about this. I know that quantum computers have the potential to break the best encriptions at our disposal today like a knife cutting butter. Given this, I would assume that they pose greater threats to centralized systems than to decentralized ones.
