How many years experience in your field? 1-3
What is the highest degree or level of school you have completed? Bachelor’s degree (for example: BA. BS)
Please describe your experience in the Crypto/Blockchain space, if any? I have experience with research and technical writing in the blockchain space. I have written articles for 21Cryptos and helped developed investment theses for the investment groups and venture capital fund that I was a part of. I look forward to helping promote Elixxir by creating simplified yet technical content for the project!
Are you an individual or a group? Individual
Node City BURLINGTON
Node State ON
Node Country Canada
For which networks Have you ever operated a node? Bitcoin (BTC, BCH, etc)
What kind of improvements would you like to see in Elixxir nodes vs. previous the previous nodes you have supported? Overall UX/UI improvements would be a huge step in the right direction.
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an Elixxir node? Lack of support from the team is my only idea. There should be no setbacks.
What is a reasonable maximum connection speed on which you could operate a BetaNet node in your geographic region? (Where 0 = 10 Megabits/second, and 100 = 10 Gigabits/second) 15
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? (As a percentage) 100
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. . 10c/kWh
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator? (Where 0 = 1 hour/month, and 100 = 20 hours/month) 100
If you were selected to run a BetaNet node, would it run on your own hardware or be deployed to cloud-based servers? Both
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? No
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published Elixxir BetaNet node specifications? No
Yes (Please list specs)
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below:
Do you have past experience deploying servers to cloud-based services? Yes (please specify)
Yes (please specify) I have done this for all of my personal servers.
Why do you want to be a node? I want to be a part of the new community and help it grow. I want to create content for a meaningful project and help onboard new users.
How did you originally hear about Elixxir? Twitter
Which current Elixxir communities are you a member of? Discord, Medium, Twitter
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the Elixxir platform? I believe the team can actually execute on the promises to develop a privacy platform. Privacy in my opinion is the largest fundamental building block that all current platforms/blockchains are currently missing. Elixxir has the potential to tap into an absolutely massive market.
Outside of Elixxir communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? Bitcoin and NKN
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? Yes, Consensus
As part of growing the Elixxir community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an Elixxir BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. Yes (how much content on a monthly basis?)
If yes, how much content on a monthly basis? I could do a piece a week that would be educational and technical breakdowns on the tech stack.
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? I typically think of decentralized networks being a small subset of distributed networks. Decentralized networks typically have large nodes that relay information and distributed networks are more "peer-to-peer." I sit near the middle but favour performance over pure decentralization.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the Elixxir platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. The block creation of the platform is a very unique selling point to increase throughput while still allowing high security on the network. Also the meta data encryption is truly unique that has a plethora of use cases. The ability to use this platform on a smartphone also creates a ton of opportunity for user-base growth. This cryptography is vital as chain analysis has become larger over the past year or so.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the Elixxir Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? It is absolutely critical because as you can see by the opt-in Zcash system a huge chunk of users don't select the option and compromise the security of the rest of the network. By having default privacy this ensures the complete anonymity of the entire network.
